What I Do-

My appraisal service offers an accurate, detailed, scholarly document which provides an official opinion of the value of a client’s fine art under specific market conditions for a particular purpose.  Appraisals can be done for the purposes of estate assessment, capital gains, gift tax, charitable contribution, insurance, damage, loss, equitable distribution, and for resale.  I can travel to you, assess your items, photograph, and research them according to your particular needs.  If an on-site assessment is not possible or is impractical, valuation can also be achieved through sufficient photographs and descriptions provided by you.

Who I Am –

My career in the art market began 30 years ago with R. Michelson Galleries, a respected fine art gallery that developed collectors for both regionally and internationally renowned artists. In that time, I have accrued extensive experience in all facets of the life of the artwork, from knowledge of its materials and methods to its sale and finally, its protection and conservation.  I stay current with the USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) as administered by the Appraisal Foundation, and my appraisals are USPAP compliant as is required by the IRS and most insurance companies.  I am an Accredited member of the Appraisers Association of America and continue to perform the required continuing education.

Fees –

Appraisal costs are based on an hourly charge and have no relation to the value of the artwork being appraised. Contact me for a free consultation regarding your particular needs.
